Shared Hyper-V virtual disk is inaccessible when it's located in Storage Spaces on a Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

A shared Hyper-V virtual disk (VHDX) is inaccessible, and I/O errors occur on Storage Spaces disks that are located on a server that's running Windows Server 2012 R2. This problem occurs when the logical sector size and the physical sector size values do not match. An example would be if you are using disks together with a native sector size of 4 KB and the Storage Spaces virtual disk was created specifying 512 bytes.
