Operation fails when you try to save an Office file through Web Application Proxy in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You publish a SharePoint site through the Web Application Proxy role service on a server that's running Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • On a client computer, you open SharePoint and then log on through Web Application Proxy.
  • You open an Office document and make some changes.

When you try to save the Office document in this scenario, the save operation fails. Additionally, you receive an indication that there was an error accessing or uploading to the disk.

Cause

This issue occurs when the edge access token has expired. When the client presents the edge access cookie together with the expired token, the error occurs when Office Forms Based Authentication Protocol (MS-OFBA) headers are used.

Resolution

Hotfix information

Windows Server 2012 R2 file information and notes
