Cluster fixes for deadlock and resource time-out issues in Windows Server 2012 R2 Update 1

Summary

This update for Cloud Platform System fixes the following issues in a clustered environment in Windows Server 2012 R2 Update 1:
  • When you have 2,000 virtual computers running, a Servicing Stack Update (SSU) debug break occurs because of a deadlock condition between the Cluster Shared Volume file system unmount and the Data Protection Manager (DPM) flush.
  • You have 1,000 or more Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) processes created on a node. After the virtual machine resources time out, the RHS process crashes. In this situation, the virtual machine resources are allocated to run in their own RHS process.
  • When file handles are marked as read-from-copy, a Cluster Shared Volume unexpectedly auto-pauses when a STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE error occurs.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Windows Server 2012 R2 file information and notes
