Symptoms

When you attempt to publish a Microsoft FrontPage Web, you may receive the following error message:
You cannot copy the FrontPage web to itself. Please choose a different location.

Cause

This behavior occurs when you attempt to publish a Web to the location from which you have opened it.

You cannot publish a Web to the same location from which you opened it.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Save Changes to the Open Web

After you change a page in an open Web, click Save on the File menu.

The changed page is saved to the Web.

Method 2: Publish to Another Location

If you want to republish the changed Web, type a location other than the location from which the Web was opened in the Specify the location to publish your web to box in the Publish Web dialog box, and then click Publish.
