FIX: Incorrect partition information when a USB stick is formatted by Storage Manager in Windows Embedded Compact 7

Symptoms

When Storage Manager is used for formatting a partition on a USB stick, the partition type is displayed incorrectly. Additionally, after you reconnect the USB stick, Storage Manager displays incorrect partition information.

Cause

This problem occurs because volume and partition information is not synced correctly during the formatting of the partition. Because the MBR was not updated when the volume was formatted, the partition information is displayed incorrectly when the USB stick is reconnected.

Resolution

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded Compact 7 Monthly Update (January 2015). In the "File information" section, the package file name contains the processor type.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

This update does not replace any other updates.
