MBAM 2.5 installation or Configuration Manager reporting fails if the name of SSRS instance contains an underscore

Symptoms

This issue occurs when you install Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) 2.5. During the installation, you integrate MBAM with System Center Configuration Manager.

Workaround

To work around this issue, follow these steps to configure MBAM 2.5:

Note Make sure that the MbamServerSetup.exe process was installed on a server before you apply these steps.
  1. Run SQL Management Studio.
  2. Change the Server Type to Reporting Services.
  3. Connect to the appropriate SQL instance.
  4. Expand the Security option.
  5. Right-click the Roles option, and then click New Role.
  6. In the Name field, input MBAM Report Users.
  7. Under the "Select the tasks that members of this role can perform" window, select the following check boxes:
    • View Reports
    • View Resources
    • View Folders
    • Manage Individual Subscriptions
    • View Models
  8. Go to http://<SQL reports server name>/Reports_<instance name> from the web browser.
  9. Create a new folder named Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring.
  10. Open the folder, and then select the Security option.
  11. Select New Role Assignment.
  12. In the Group or user name field, add the read-only service account that is used when you install the audit databases and select the check box next to MBAM Report Users.
  13. Click the OK button.
  14. Go back to http://<SQL reports server name>/Reports_<instance name> and open the Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring folder.
  15. Create a new folder named en-us, and then open the folder.
  16. Click the Upload File button and upload all the reports under one of the following paths:
    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring\Setup\Reports\Standalone\en-us
    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring\Setup\Reports\CM\en-us

  17. When you use Configuration Manager Integration, install audit reports under C:\Program Files\Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring\Setup\Reports\Standalone\en-us on the same Configuration Manager SSRS or another SSRS instance.
  18. Browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring\Setup\Reports\Standalone\en-us and upload the Recovery Audit Report.rdl file.
  19. Go back to http://<SQL reports server name>/Reports_<instance name> and open the Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring folder.
  20. Click New Data Source.
  21. In the Name field, input MaltaDataSource.
  22. In the Connection String field, input the following value for example:
    • Data Source equal <SQL DB Server>\<instance name>
    • Initial Catalog equal "MBAM Compliance Status"
    • Integrated Security equal True
  23. Click the Credentials stored securely in the report server option button.
  24. Add a read-only service account that is used when you install the audit database.
  25. Select Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source check box.
  26. Click the Test Connection button and make sure that the connection is successful.
  27. Click the OK button.
  28. Change the data source for the uploaded report for all the report by the following steps:
    1. Go back to http://<SQL reports server name>/Reports_<instance name>.
    2. Open the Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring folder.
    3. Highlight the Report, and then select Manage from the drop-down control.
    4. Select Data Sources, and then click the A Shared data source option button.
    5. Select the MaltaDataSource that is created in the 21 step.
    6. Click the Apply button.
  29. Install the Administration and Monitoring Website feature.
