Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a device that is running Windows 8.1 and that has a Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) Wi-Fi driver installed.
  • The device has updates 2919355 and 2883200 installed.
  • You restart the device (warm boot).
  • You put the device in idle for about one minute.
  • You perform one of the following steps:
    • Put the device in hibernation, and then resume the device.
    • Enter Connected Standby, and then resume the device.
    • Disable and then re-enable Wi-Fi.
In this scenario, the clock frequency of the SD bus decreases to about half of the usual rate. This may decrease performance on a Wi-Fi network connection.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, we have released an update rollup and a hotfix for Windows 8.1.
Shall I choose hotfix or update rollup?
The update rollup fixes many other issues in addition to the issue that the hotfix fixes. We recommend that you use the update rollup. The update rollup is larger than the hotfix. Therefore, the update rollup takes longer to download.
