The system does not enter Connected Standby after you install update 2996799 in Windows

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have update 2996799 installed on an Intel® Atom™ Processor Z373x series based computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • You plug an SD card in to the computer.
  • You hibernate and then resume the computer.
In this scenario, the computer cannot enter the Connected Standby power state after the computer resumes from at least one hibernate cycle.

Cause

This issue occurs because update 2996799 does not handle certain power I/O request packets (IRPs) correctly.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, we have released an update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. Before you install this update, check out the prerequisites.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.


Method 3: Update rollup
Install the November 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.

Note The update rollup fixes many other issues in addition to the issue that the stand-alone update fixes. The update rollup is larger than the stand-alone update. Therefore, the update rollup takes longer to download.
