Update for remote applications and Remote Desktop Easy Print that uses RDP 8.1 client in Windows 8.1 or Windows 7

This article describes issues that occur when you print documents or use a RemoteApp program in a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 8.1 client in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. A hotfix is available to resolve these issues. The hotfix has a prerequisite.

Symptoms

Issue 1

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a redirected printer that is created by using the Terminal Service Easy Print feature.
  • You use the Remote Desktop Easy Print printer to print a document in a text editor application (such as Microsoft Word).
In this scenario, you cannot print the document correctly in either of the following situations, and you receive an error message:
  • You print an A3-size document.
  • The redirected printer drivers do not support print tickets.

Issue 2

When you use a RemoteApp program, some mouse and keyboard operations are not synchronized correctly.

Resolution

To resolve these issues, we have released a hotfix for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, and we have released an update rollup for Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.

Get the update rollup for Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2

To resolve these issues, install the update rollup that is dated November 2014. 

Get the November 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2

Get the hotfix for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix Download Available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. To apply this update, you must have Service Pack 1 installed in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

The global version of this hotfix installs files that have the attributes that are listed in the following tables. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 file information and notes

Important Windows 7 hotfixes and Windows Server 2008 R2 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, hotfixes on the Hotfix Request page are listed under both operating systems.
