Unexpected UAC prompt from network on a Windows 8.1-based device

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows 8.1-based device.
  • You join the device to a domain.
  • The password synchronization feature under the OneDrive Sync settings is enabled for the device.
  • You switch networks on the device. For example, you switch the device between Wi-Fi and LAN networks.
In this scenario, a User Account Control (UAC) dialog box appears unexpectedly.
