November 2014 update to support many camera-specific file formats in Windows 8 and Windows RT

This article describes a Microsoft Camera Codec Pack update for Windows 8 and Windows RT that lets you view many camera-specific file formats. Check the prerequisites before you install this update.
Note The update lets users view supported RAW camera files in Windows Explorer, in built-in photo applications, and in other Windows-based applications that use Windows Imaging Codecs.

Update detail information

Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must be running a Windows 8-based or Windows RT-based computer that has update 2779444 or update 2712101 installed.
Additionally, the Windows 8-based computer must meet the following hardware requirements:
  • Processor: Intel Pentium 4 processor equivalent or faster (1.6 gigahertz [GHz] or faster with SSE 2 extensions or compatibility)
  • Memory: 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM or more
  • Minimum display resolution: 1024 x 576

Registry information

To use the update in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Restart requirement

You must restart the computer after you apply this update.

The Microsoft Camera Codec Pack update that was released in November 2014 adds support for the file formats of the following devices:
