WSUS database is not cleared correctly after you run Server Cleanup Wizard on a Windows Server 2012 R2-based WSUS server

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run Internet Information Services (IIS) on a Windows Server 2012 R2-based Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server.
  • You run the Server Cleanup Wizard in the WSUS Administration Console to clear expired and old update revisions.
In this scenario, the IIS process crashes. Additionally, the WSUS database is not cleared correctly, and unusable updates remain in the WSUS database catalog.
