FIX: "Invalid URL path" error when an external user tries to connect to a shared calendar

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You publish Microsoft Exchange OWA or Outlook anywhere by using Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010.
  • A user logs on to use the Exchange "Publish Calendar" feature to share their calendar with other external users in iCal or HTML format.
In this scenario, external users who are connected through the Unified Access Gateway server receive the following error message when they try to connect to the shared calendar:

Invalid URL path

Cause

This problem occurs because the Exchange "Publish Calendar" feature incorrectly redirects the client to a webpage that generates a URL for Calendar sharing, and the URL resembles the following:

http://webmail.company.com/owa/calendar/firstName.Name@company.com/Calendar/calendar.html

By default, the Unified Access Gateway Exchange publishing template does not include a URL set that allows for this kind of URL.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in Rollup 1 for Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 Service Pack 4.

Note This hotfix is effective for only newly recreated trunks or publications.

Workaround

To work around this problem for an existing trunk or publication, add "/owa/calendar/.*" to the trunk URL set.
