ifAdminStatus variable of 0 in NIC Teaming interface in Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

In the NIC Teaming interface in Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2, the value of the ifAdminStatus variable is always returned as 0. The correct value of the variable should be 1, 2, or 3. Therefore, you may be unable to detect any hardware failures on your system.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. There are no prerequisites for installing this hotfix.

To apply this hotfix, you must be running one of the following operating systems:
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2012 R2

To apply this update, you must first have update 2919355 installed in Windows Server 2012 R2.

Restart requirement

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
