Device may not work when you access a network share by using the Windows preinstall environment

Symptoms

When you try to access network shares by using the Windows Preinstall environment, your computer may stop responding (hang) or you may receive the following error message:
System Error 59 has occurred
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Windows Preinstall environment cannot access distributed file system (Dfs) shares.

Resolution
