Unpacking an Application to the Root Directory Fails

Symptoms

When you use the Commerce Server Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to add a new Web server to an existing Commerce Server 2000 application that is installed in the root directory of a Web server, the new Web server may not be added to the application, and the log file may contain the following error message:
"Error importing application for / 5:A resource with this name already exists / Sharedfns.bas:SQLCreateRes"

Cause

Arguments that are passed to the Commerce Site Packager are not parsed correctly.

Workaround

To work around this problem, do not use the MMC to add the new Web server. Instead, do either of the following:
  • Open the .pup package manually with the Commerce Site Packager. -or-

  • Double-click the .pup package and select Custom Unpack.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Commerce Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
