"Failed to fetch servers" when you try to find available IP addresses in IP Address Management in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create an IP Address Management (IPAM) server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 in an environment, and then you configure a static IP address range by using IPAM. 
  • The IP address of a Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server, the IP address of a Domain Name System (DNS) server, the IP address of a gateway, a reserved IP address, a reserved IP address range, a virtual IP address, or a virtual IP address range uses the IP address in the static IP range. 
  • You try to find free IP addresses by clicking Find and Allocate Available IP address in Server Manager.
In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Failed to fetch servers from database.

Resolution
