Summary

Domain Name System (DNS) servers are configured in the network settings for Internet Protocol (IP) resolution tasks. If you do not want to use these DNS servers, you can set a registry key to overwrite the network settings and to specify a list of alternate DNS servers.

NOTE: You can only use the method that is described in this article if Commerce Server 2000 Service Pack 1 is installed.

To overwrite the DNS servers that are used for IP resolution, follow these steps:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate and click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Commerce Server\2000
  3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
    Value name: AnalysisNameserver
    Data type: REG_SZ
    Value data: Type a list of DNS servers (use a space to separate each server)

    For example: 
    10.1.1.1 10.1.1.2
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
