Clussvc.exe or cluster node crashes when a node sends a message to another node in a Windows Server 2012 R2 cluster

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows Server 2012 R2 cluster.
  • One cluster node sends a message that is larger than 64 kilobytes (KB) to another cluster node. Additionally, the connection between the two nodes is broken.
  • The two nodes are reconnected. 
  • A large message is sent through the same connection.
In this scenario, the Clussvc.exe process on the cluster node that receives the message crashes or the cluster node itself crashes.

Resolution
