File Server Resource Manager Quota filters are not decremented correctly in Windows Server 2008 SP2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install File Server Resource Manager on a file server that's running Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
  • You create a folder and set a quota on it.
  • You create some files in the folder and then share the folder.
  • From a Windows client, you access the shared folder by using the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, and then you delete all files through Windows Explorer.

In this scenario, deleting a file does not affect the File Server Resource Manager quota.

Note When a file is deleted, the quota should also be decremented.
