"1603" error code when you install Workflow Manager 1.0 Refresh

Symptoms

When you install Workflow Manager 1.0 Refresh in Windows Server 2012, the installation fails and you will see an error message in the log that resembles the following:

Service Bus 1.1 fails installation - Install exit code for product 'Microsoft Windows Fabric V1 CU1' is '1603'

Cause

This issue occurs because your computer does not have the following components that are the prerequisites for the Workflow Manager 1.0 Refresh installation:
  • Windows Fabric V1 CU1
  • Service Bus 1.1

Resolution

To resolve this issue, download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.
