Update information
A supported update is available from Microsoft Support.
If the update is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, go to the following Microsoft website:
Note The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the update is available. If you do not see your language, it is because an update is not available for that language.
Registry information
This update lets a registry key change the behavior of the Usbvideo.sys driver against certain USB camera devices. If the registry key is set for a nonzero value for a specific non-video AVStream device, that device will not be exposed as a video camera to the AVStream API. Therefore, any modern applications that use the typical Windows Runtime MediaCapture API are no longer able to see that specific device.
Registry location:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx\instance-id\Device Parameters
Note The xxxx placeholders indicate values that are related to a specific camera device.
DWORD Name: SkipCameraEnumeration
Value Data: Any nonzero value
