Cluster nodes stop when multiple physical disks in storage space are disconnected in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a failover cluster in which nodes are running Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • The cluster uses a three-way mirror storage space that is created by using the Storage Spaces feature. 
  • Multiple physical disks in the three-way mirror storage space are disconnected. The number of disks that are disconnected is less than 50 percent of the total physical disks in the three-way mirror storage space. 
In this scenario, this issue occurs.

Resolution
