To resolve this behavior, replace the current version of the Jscript.dll file with the version from the Internet Explorer installation files for the version of Internet Explorer you are currently using. If these files are not available, you may also replace the current version of the Jscript.dll file with a copy of the Jscript.dll file from another computer that has the same version of Internet Explorer installed.
For Microsoft Windows 2000-based computers, the Jscript.dll file is a Windows protected file. To replace this file:
- Extract the Jscript.dll file from the Scripten.cab file that is located in the Windows Update Setup Files folder, which is located on the boot partition of your hard disk.
- Start Windows 2000 in Safe mode.
- Replace the Jscript.dll file in Windows_folder\System32\Dllcache.
- Replace the Jscript.dll file in Windows_folder\System32.
- Restart your computer.
For Microsoft Windows 98-based computers:
- Extract the Jscript.dll file from the Ie_2.cab file that is located in the "C:\Windows Update Setup Files" folder.
- Replace the Jscript.dll file that is located in the Windows_folder\System folder.
For Microsoft Windows NT-based computers:
- Extract the Jscript.dll file from the Ient_2.cab file that is located in the "Windows Update Setup Files" folder, which is located on the boot partition of your hard disk.
- Replace the Jscript.dll file that is located in the Windows_folder\System32 folder.
