Blank browser window when RMS client sends WIF request to a Windows Server 2012 R2-based AD FS server

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) on a Windows Server 2012 R2-based server by using an Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) server for a federation-based trust.
  • You upgrade the AD RMS authentication from using the AD FS agent to using Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) on the server.
  • An RMS client computer uses WIF to send a request together with a whr parameter to the AD RMS server.
In this scenario, the client computer receives a redirection URL that has the whr parameter appended to it. Therefore, the browser window becomes blank.
