Symptoms

The DbOrderPromoADO component does not work on Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1). When a promotion is applied to a Basket Item in the OrderForm object, the Item dictionary object is incorrectly deleted. The next time a Pipeline component tries to use this Basket Item, an access violation occurs.

Cause

When a promotion is applied to a Basket Item, the pipeline component incorrectly releases the Component Object Model (COM) interface pointer to the Basket Item dictionary object twice. As a result, the COM object is deleted, and the OrderForm dictionary object reference to this Basket Item is no longer valid.
