Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Simplified Chinese version of Windows 8.1.
  • A device that uses a Chinese device name, such as "Bluetooth 设备 (个人区域网)" or "Bluetooth 设备 (RFCOMM 协议 TDI)", is installed on the computer.
  • Under Bluetooth catalog in Device Manager, you remove and then reinstall the Generic Bluetooth adapter or the Bluetooth adapter from third-party companies.
In this scenario, the device name has #n (such as #2, #3) characters appended in Device Manager.

More Information

When a device name contains Chinese characters, Windows cannot remove the device name correctly. Therefore, after the device is reinstalled, Windows adds numbers after the device name.
