Computer freezes when you connect a USB device in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install update 2919355 on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • You have a device that uses the AVStream class (such as a Bluetooth, USB, or PCI device) connected to the computer.
  • The computer sleeps or wakes.
In this scenario, the computer freezes or crashes.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a race condition in the power management threads in the Ks.sys file.
