Computer crashes when you run apps that use extended window styles

Symptoms

When you use an application that uses one or more extended window styles on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2, the computer crashes.

Resolution

To resolve this issue in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2, install update rollup 2962409.
To resolve this issue in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, install the hotfix that is described in this article.

Hotfix information for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 file information notes
