"Storage Reports Task Properties" cannot be used to configure the maximum number of items in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

When you set the maximum number of items for each report item by using the Storage Reports Task Properties dialog box in Windows Server 2012 R2, the settings do not take effect.

Resolution

To set the maximum number of items, use the File Server Resource Manager Options dialog box in File Server Resource Manager. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open File Server Resource Manager.
  2. Right-click File Server Resource Manager (Local), and then click Configure Options….
  3. From the File Server Resource Manager Options dialog box, select the Storage Reports tab.
  4. From the Configure default parameters section, select the report, and then click Edit Parameters….
  5. On the Report Parameters dialog box, change the maximum number of items.

Cause

This issue occurs because the maximum number of reports specified in the Storage Reports Task Properties dialog box is not considered.
