"0x000000D5" Stop error when you remove a volume on a Windows-based Hyper-V server

Symptoms

Assume that a volume is removed from a Windows Server 2012 R2-based or Windows Server 2012-based Hyper-V server. In this situation, the hypervisor on the Hyper-V server crashes with a Stop error message that resembles the following:

STOP: 0x000000D5 ( parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4 )

Notes

  • This Stop error indicates a DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_POOL issue.
  • The parameters in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.
  • Not all "0x000000D5" Stop errors are caused by this issue.
