XADM: Cannot Access Newsgroups Through Public Folders After Moving Public Information Store

Symptoms

When trying to access a public folder post in Microsoft Outlook Express, you may receive the following error message:
The TCP/IP Connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.
Configuration:
Account: account name Server: server name Protocol: NNTP Port: 119 Secure (SSL):0 Code: 800ccc0f
If you perform a network trace, you see a "503 server failure" response from the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) server when attempting to retrieve the post.

Cause

This problem occurs if you have moved the Exchange 2000 public information store databases to alternate locations.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, restart the Microsoft Exchange information store (IS) service.

To work around this problem, stop the Microsoft Exchange IS service before you move the public information store databases.
