Improvements and Fixes

  • The MAPI over HTTP transport protocol is not supported on Windows XP. After you install this hotfix, when you run Outlook 2010 on a Windows XP-based computer, Outlook will not use the MAPI over HTTP transport protocol.
  • Fixes the following issues:
    • When you search for content in an Exchange Server 2003 public folder for Outlook 2010, the content outside the public folder is also included in the search result.
    • Although you deploy the Microsoft Outlook 2010 policy Prevent copying or moving items between accounts (registry entry DisableCrossAccountCopy), Outlook 2010 still lets certain user rules to move or copy organization email messages to an Outlook Data (.pst) file or another email account.
    • Assume that you configure Outlook 2010 to connect to an Exchange Server 2010 mailbox in online mode. Then, you save a Rich Text format (RTF) email message as an Outlook template (.oft). When you open the saved template, the template is opened in HTML format instead of RTF format.
    • Nonrecurring calendar appointments that are created in Outlook Web App (OWA) cannot be auto-archived.
    • When you view the property information of some specific email messages (.msg) in Windows Explorer, a memory leak may occur.
    • Fixes an issue in which text in some dialog boxes may appear clipped in some languages and includes translations for a new feature in Outlook 2010.
    • Consider the following scenario:
      • You configure Outlook 2010 to use the MAPI over HTTP protocol.
      • You configure Outlook to connect to the Internet though a proxy server.
      • You configure Outlook to connect to a mailbox that is hosted on a Microsoft Exchange Server-based server.
      • You add the Exchange server to the bypass list of the proxy server.
In this scenario, when the proxy server is not working, Outlook cannot connect to the mailbox.
