February 10, 2015 update for Outlook 2013 (KB2956087)
View products that this article applies to.
This article describes update KB2956087 for Microsoft Outlook 2013 that was released on February 10, 2015. This update also applies to
Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which contains Outlook 2013. This update has a
prerequisite.
Please be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (
How to determine?).
- Improves user experience on slate or tablet devices as email items open by using the most recent window size and position.
- This update enables copy-protection for the Facebook contacts folder in Outlook 2013 so that it integrates better with the Facebook contacts sync feature of Office 365.
- Fixes the following issues:
- Assume that you dock the Calendar, People or Tasks peek to the To-Do bar in a Click-to-Run edition of Outlook 2013. After you install an update and restart Outlook, the Calendar, People or Tasks peek may not appear correctly.
- Assume that you use a non-English version of Outlook 2013 (Click-to-Run edition), on a non-English version of Windows operating system. After you install a recent update for Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions, you cannot create new Outlook profiles from Control Panel.
- Consider the following scenario:
- You configure Outlook 2013 to use the MAPI over HTTP protocol.
- You configure Outlook to connect to the Internet though a proxy server.
- You configure Outlook to connect to a mailbox that is hosted on a Microsoft Exchange Server-based server.
- You add the Exchange server to the bypass list of the proxy server.
In this scenario, when the proxy server is not working, Outlook cannot connect to the mailbox.
- Consider the following scenario:
- You run Outlook 2013 in Cached Exchange Mode.
- You open the shared mailbox that you have full permissions in Outlook.
- You forward or reply to a message in the shared mailbox, and then change the From field to the primary mailbox.
- You add the From field to a view in the Sent Items folder.
- You open the Sent Items folder.
In this scenario, the From field of the given email is empty.
- Assume that you configure Outlook 2013 and the Exchange server so that they keep the message categories during the content conversion. Then, you forward an email message that contains a custom category. When the recipients receive the email, the custom category is lost.
- When you try to add a new appointment item to a shared calendar by double-clicking a time slot, a meeting item appears instead of an appointment item.
Similarly, when you add a new meeting item to a shared calendar by right-clicking a time slot, and then selecting New Meeting Request, the owner of the shared calendar is added to the To field. This behavior is unexpected.
- Assume that you create a calendar in a public folder in Outlook 2013, and then you publish the calendar to a WebDAV server. After you restart Outlook, you may be unable to sync the calendar with the WebDAV server, for example, by clicking the Send/Receive All Folders button. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
Task Published Calendars reported error (0x8004010F): The operation failed. An object cannot be found.
Additionally, you may also receive the following error message on the later attempt to sync the calendar:
Task Published Calendars reported error (0x80004005): The operation failed.
- When you apply a retention policy to a conversation that contains many email messages in Outlook 2013, Outlook 2013 may crash. For example, by right-clicking a conversation, clicking Assign Policy, and then clicking a policy.
- When you browse the Conversation History folder while Windows Narrator is running, Outlook 2013 may crash.
- Although you deploy Microsoft Outlook 2013 policy Prevent copying or moving items between accounts (registry entry DisableCrossAccountCopy), Outlook 2013 still lets certain user rules move or copy organization email messages to an Outlook Data (.pst) file or another email account.
- Consider the following scenario:
- You add a new contact that has a birthday in Outlook 2013.
- You change the view of the Contacts folder to a table view, such as the List view.
- You add the Birthday or Anniversary field to the table view.
- You change the time zone setting in Outlook Options.
In this scenario, the value of the Birthday field or Anniversary field may appear incorrect in the table view.
- When you search items in the current mailbox for an IMAP email account in Outlook 2013, you just receive the "Searching..." message, but no search result is returned.
- Assume that you configure Outlook 2013 to connect to a mailbox that is hosted on Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 or 2013, and then you add an additional mailbox that is hosted on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. When you search for an item from the additional mailbox, no result is returned.

How to determine whether my Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based:
- Start an Office 2013 application, such as Microsoft Outlook 2013.
- On the File menu, click Account.
- For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item is not displayed.
