When a mailbox is created by using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, the mailbox object automatically receives the following default value in the LegacyExchangeDN attribute:
/o=ORGNAME/OU=SITENAME/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=Recipientname
When the Active Directory Connector is configured, a directory object corresponding to the mailbox object in Active Directory is created in the Exchange Server 5.5 directory. The
OBJ-DIST-NAME attribute of the Exchange Server 5.5 directory object is derived from the container where the object is created. If the recipients container is not the default destination for the ADC connection agreement, the value of the
OBJ-DIST-NAME attribute will receive a value that is different to the value of the
LegacyExchangeDN attribute. In this scenario, you will experience the error that is described in the "Symptoms" section.
Additionally, the value of the
OBJ-DIST-NAME attribute cannot be changed in Exchange Server 5.5. However, the value of the
LegacyExchangeDN attribute can be changed at any time in Active Directory.
To prevent a mismatch of the values of the
OBJ-DIST-NAME attribute and the
LegacyExchangeDN attribute, make sure that the
OBJ-DIST-NAME attribute value is replicated from the Exchange Server 5.5 directory into Active Directory. Therefore you must configure a two-way connection agreement.
