The FrontPage Database Troubleshooting Utility checks for the following items that may cause a Database Results Region page to fail:
- The absence of a Global.asa file.
- Whether the Global.asa file is running.
- Whether the Global.asa file is running outside of the Web.
- The absense of any database connections in the Web.
To use the FrontPage Database Troubleshooting Utility to test the functionality of a Database Results Region page, follow these steps:
- Download the Fpselect.exe file from the Microsoft Download Center.
- Double-click Fpselect.exe to extract Fpselect.asp to your Desktop.
- Open your FrontPage Web.
- Make sure that a database connection exists in your Web.
- Import Fpselect.asp into the root folder of the FrontPage Web.
- Open your Web browser. In the URL address box, type the HTTP path to the Fpselect.asp file. For example, if you imported the file into a Web named myweb, type the following HTTP path in the URL address box:
http://localhost/myweb/fpselect.asp
When the Fpselect.asp page has finished opening, it will immediately test functionality and then display the results in a banner. A green banner indicates success and a red banner indicates a problem.
If a red banner appears and displays a warning, it will also provide details about the problem. If you are unsure about how to resolve the problem, search for a solution at the Microsoft Online Support Web site:
If you are still unable to find a solution, open a support incident with Microsoft Technical Support and include the message that the FrontPage Database Troubleshooting Utility reported.
