Can't deploy Office 2013 through System Center Configuration Manager to a computer that's running Windows 8, Windows Embedded 8, or Windows Server 2012

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that's running Windows 8, Windows Embedded 8, or Windows Server 2012.
  • You try to deploy Microsoft Office 2013 to this computer through Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.

In this scenario, Office 2013 is not deployed successfully, and you receive the following error message:

Error 1921. Service 'Windows Font Cache Service' (FontCache) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 file information and notes

Important Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only "Windows 8" is listed on the Hotfix Request page.
