XADM: "C104173A" Error Message Occurs After You Restore the Database

Symptoms

After you restore the databases on an Exchange 2000 computer, the mailbox and public folder stores do not mount. You may receive the following error message:
The database files in this store were replaced with older versions by an offline restore. To use the restored files, open the database property page for this store, select "this database can be overwritten by a restore", wait for active directory replication, and try again.

Resolution

To resolve this behavior:
  1. Start Exchange System Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Administrative Groups container, click to expand the Server container, click to expand the appropriate server name, click to expand the appropriate storage group, and then click the store (mailbox or public folder) that was restored.
  3. Right-click the appropriate store, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Database tab.
  5. Click to select the This database can be overwritten by a restore check box, and then click OK.
  6. To mount the store, right-click the store, and then click Mount Store.
  7. Repeat this procedure for each store that was restored from backup.
