Explorer process freezes when you log on to a Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2-based server in a PDW appliance

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have computers that are running Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2 in an environment.
  • You install Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and configure disks, network or cluster, on a server.
  • You try to log on to one of the servers in the environment in a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW) appliance.
In this scenario, the Explorer.exe process freezes and any interactions are blocked.
