Resolution

  1. On the server computer, open the Internet Information Services Manager.
  2. In the Tree pane, right-click the virtual server that you want, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu that appears.
  3. In the Web site name Properties dialog box, click Settings on the Server Extensions 2002 tab.
  4. On the Change Configuration Settings page of the SharePoint team Web site, click to select the Enable authoring check box, and then click Submit.

More information

The Author role allows the user to view, add, and modify pages in a list, in a document library, or on a discussion board. When the Authoring setting is cleared, items cannot be added to a Web folder that is hosted by a virtual server on which Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions are installed.
