This article describes how to determine whether the Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC) is installed on your computer.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Determine Whether MDAC is Installed

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type Regedit and then click OK.
  3. Look for the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer
    If the key is located in the registry, MDAC is installed.
