RPC Client Access service stops when you select an inactive search folder in Outlook 2007 in an Exchange Server 2010 SP3 environment

Symptoms

Assume that you are running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3) environment. You select an inactive search folder in Outlook 2007, such as the Unread Mail search folder. In this situation, the RPC Client Access service may stop unexpectedly. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Cause

This issue occurs because the search restrictions in Outlook 2007 search folders are processed by a recursive function. Then, a stack overflow occurs. Therefore, the Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe process stops.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
