First letter of an autocorrect suggestion is not capitalized in Windows 8.1

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You set English as the input language in Windows 8.1.
  • You type an misspelled word in the text box in a modern app such as Internet Explorer.
  • You right-click the misspelled word (which has a red underline), and you select an autocorrect suggestion to correct the word.
In this scenario, the first letter of the autocorrect suggestion is lowercase. Therefore, the spelling correction does not preserve capitalization. For example, the autocorrect suggestion for the incorrect word "Smoething" is "something."
