Stop Error 0x133 in the Netft.sys driver occurs in a node that is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

In a cluster, a node that runs Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) may encounter a Stop error 0x133 in the Netft.sys driver.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a deadlock condition in the Netft.sys driver.

Resolution

Method 1: Windows Update

This update is provided as an Optional update on Windows Update for Windows Server 2008 R2. For more information on how to run Windows Update, see How to get an update through Windows Update.

Method 2: Hotfix

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
