Audible distortion can be heard when using inbox USB audio driver and a USB device

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows 8.1, Windows 8.0, or a Windows 7 SP1 system.
  • You have a USB audio device.
  • You play audio on the system to the USB audio device.
  • The audio device sends invalid transactions over the USB bus.

In this scenario, you may hear occasional distorted audio with the USB audio device.

Cause

The audio distortion may occur because the USB audio driver does not reject invalid transaction data from the device.

If you encounter this issue, check with the USB audio device manufacturer for any firmware updates for the device.
