Symptoms

On a Windows RT 8.1-based, Windows 8.1-based, or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer, certain cameras cannot be used as removable drives.

Note This issue does not occur in earlier versions of Windows.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a regression that occurs in the asynchronous notification feature. In Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2, this feature no longer uses a device list that verifies the device type.
