Event ID 57006 is logged when you cannot restart the Lync Server 2013 front-end service

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario
  • You assign a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) address to a user in a Microsoft Lync Server 2013 environment. 
  • The address contains a reserved character, such as an ampersand. For example, the address is test.us&er@company.com.
  • The user signs in to a client for Lync by using the URI address in the environment.
  • You try to restart the Lync Server 2013 front-end service.
In this scenario, the front-end service cannot restart. Additionally, the following event is logged on Lync Server 2013.

Cause

This issue occurs because the SIP URI that has reserved characters is parsed incorrectly.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative updates:
  • 2910244 Description of the cumulative update 5.0.8308.577 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server: January 2014
  • 2910243 Description of the cumulative update 5.0.8308.577 for Lync Server 2013 Backup Service: January 2014
  • 2905048 Description of the cumulative update 5.0.8308.577 for Lync Server 2013 (Front End Server and Edge Server): January 2014
