Issues that this update fixes

This update fixes the following issues:

Issue 1

Consider the following scenario:
  • In the DNS Management snap-in (Dnsmgmt.msc), you remove the _msdcs subdomain in the contoso.local DNS zone.
  • You remove the _msdcs delegation from the contoso.local DNS zone.
  • You run the Windows Server 2012 Essentials Migration Preparation Tool to scan for issues.

In this scenario, an error is detected that indicates that the local server is not in the name server records. This update changes the error message to present the correct information about this error condition.

Issue 2

The migration from a standard edition of Windows Server to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard may be unsuccessful because of some unnecessary checks of the File Replication Service. (This service is running on the source server.) This update changes the migration so that these checks are skipped on source servers that are not running Windows Small Business Server.
