Stop error 0x50 occurs in Ndis.sys on a Windows 8-based or Windows Server 2012-based computer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.
  • You have the computer enter a sleep state, and then you resume the system from the sleep state.
In the scenario, you may receive stop error 0x50 (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) in NDIS.sys. 

Additionally, stop error 0xd5 (DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_POOL) occurs when you use Driver Verifier.

Cause

This problem occurs because of an issue in the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) driver.

More Information

Currently, there is no resolution for this issue in Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012. However, in Windows 8, you can resolve this issue by upgrading to Windows 8.1.
