The Visio 2013 Drawing control cannot save a drawing in .vsd format

Symptoms

Assume that you use the Microsoft Visio 2013 drawing control in an application. When you try to save the drawing in the .vsd file format, you receive the following error message:

File not found
Note The file is still saved when the application generates this error. However, if you try to reopen the file by using the same application, you receive the following error message:

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

Workaround

To work around this problem, make sure that the type of file that you create (.vsd or .vsdx) is the same one that the Visio drawing control saves to (.vsd or .vsdx).
